Impartiality Statement

This statement reflects GCMA’s commitment to ethical and responsible practice. Work to strengthen the frameworks that support impartiality will continue as the organisation develops.

GCMA’s primary aim and mission statement is to educate, advocate and motivate. As such, we recognise the importance of acting in an impartial and independent manner when engaging with members, partners, supporters, and the wider sector. Maintaining trust across a diverse, international community is central to our purpose and to the credibility of the work we undertake.

Our Constitution requires members, Board members, and Officers to uphold integrity, act responsibly, and avoid conflicts between personal or commercial interests and the interests of GCMA. Board members must declare any potential conflict of interest and may be asked to step out of related discussions or decisions. This principle guides GCMA’s approach to impartiality across its activities.

Safeguarding impartiality applies to our decision-making, to how we communicate, and to how we collaborate with organisations and individuals who support or work alongside us. Relationships, collaborations, and shared initiatives do not grant influence over GCMA decisions or priorities, and do not imply endorsement or preferential treatment of any particular service, course, or commercial offering.

GCMA works with many stakeholders including professional bodies, organisations and commercial operators to advance shared objectives in crowd management. We continue striving to uphold the values of our Constitution.

In rare circumstances where an issue has direct implications for public safety, legality, or the reputation of the sector as a whole, GCMA may consider whether a limited and clearly defined role is appropriate. Any such consideration will focus solely on those wider implications rather than the interests or positions of any party.

All Members are required to abide by GCMA’s Code of Conduct.  These documents set out expectations around professionalism, transparency, and responsible conduct, and establish how conflicts of interest are managed within GCMA governance.
